What is Microblading?
If you’re even a little bit curious about microblading, you’ve come to the right place. The Microblading Institute trains some of the Bay Area’s leading microblading professionals, and we are your one-stop-shop for learning about this innovative new beauty procedure.
Microblading is the application of a semi-permanent makeup to the eyebrows in order to create a fuller, more sculpted looking fame for the face. Your artist will use a specialized tool to draw tiny lines into the skin. With each stroke, the ink is able to create the look of real hair.
There are a number of different names for Microblading, but the big distinction that we want to make really clear is that microblading is not the same as eyebrow tattooing. Once again, microblading is only semi-permanent, and the tool used on microblading candidates does not penetrate the skin as deeply as the tools used for cosmetic tattoos. This does mean that you’ll need to touch up your brows over time.
What should I expect during the procedure?
The actual process of “microblading” your new brows will likely be the shortest part of the procedure. Your artist will spend most of their time getting to know you and the results you are looking for. Based on that information, and the dimensions of your face, they will then create a highly precise brow map. Brow maps help your technician place their strokes with perfection and ensure that you get a clean and natural looking result.
Are there any risks?
Yes. Just like with any cosmetic procedure, there are always risks involved. Being open and honest with your artist about your medical history and expectations are key to ensuring that you have the best possible experience. If you are someone who is allergy prone or just have sensitive skin, make sure you ask about a patch test!
Would I be a good candidate?
Microblading techniques can be modified for all sorts of skin-types and colors; however, there are some instances that might not make microblading right for you…
